The new government Building in Ramle

Creating a new benchmark

In the beginning of the new millennium, the Israeli Government decided to construct a new, modern, attractive Municipality building in the city of Ramla - a benchmark for future construction.  A well known architect was hired to create a building whose beauty, design and architecture would enhance the neighborhood while delivering an optimal level of services to the visitors.   Every detail was carefully planned and thought out to reflect timeless grace.

High demands from energy management system

The growing awareness of environmental issues and rising electricity prices where major factors in choosing an energy management system for the building,

The Government's goals were to design a cost effective, superior quality, advanced technology building equipped with an automation system that would deliver significant savings in both installation and energy utilization.  They also required a product that was capable of maximizing employee productivity and comfort.

With all of these factors in mind, they choose the EIB system and Breeza, as capable of delivering long term, unsurpassed reliability, savings, and user friendliness and comfort.

Designing the system with BREEZA

The 13,500 sq. meters Government Building was equipped with:

-        BREEZA units in every office and meeting room controlling A/C, heating and lighting.

-        Public access areas were equipped with presence detectors controlling lighting based on occupancy.

-        PC software provides schedules, control and monitoring for the central control of the building.

Evaluating the actual energy savings

In order to evaluate the actual energy savings provided by the Breeza the Government choose E.M.G., an independent consultant and market leader in Israel of planning, integration and evaluation of electrical systems to determine the BREEZA's actual energy effectiveness.

EMG performed two separate evaluations to assess the energy savings of the system:

1.   The energy usage of the individual offices and meeting rooms in the Breeza enabled Government Building was compared to the energy usage of offices in Government Buildings utilizing a timer system that automatically opens the A/C, heating and lighting system in the morning and closes them at night.  EMG found that the Breeza created an energy savings of an additional 28.95% compared to timer only systems.

2.  The total energy usage of the Breeza enabled Government Building was compared to similar Governmental Buildings that utilize a different control system, creating energy savings by discontinuing A/C and heating functions at programmed intervals, causing individual workers to manually operate the system in their offices.  When comparing actual energy usage, EMG found that the Breeza enabled building, reduced the total energy consumption of the building by 22 % compared to buildings utilizing other energy saving control systems.

THE FINDINGS

EMG reports that these findings mean that the Breeza energy savings pay for the investment within 3 years.  In addition, EMG reported that the Breeza Product significantly increased both the worker's quality of life, and their perception of the friendliness and modernity of the building.
